Your body is composed of about 70% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.
Through the posterior pituitary gland, your brain communicates with your kidneys and tells it how much water to excrete as urine or hold onto for reserves.
When you’re low on fluids, the brain triggers the body’s thirst mechanism. And unless you are taking medications that make you thirsty, you should listen to those cues and get yourself a drink of water, tea, fresh juice……anything but alcohol.
Alcohol interferes with the brain and kidney communication and causes excess excretion of fluids which can then lead to dehydration.

The benefits of water:

1. It will give you a full feeling that contributes to your weightloss.
2. You will feel more energetic; without water you can survive at most 4 days! A dehydration of ‘only’ 2% can already result in energy loss of up to 20%.
3. Your skin will look better; good against  pimples, dark circles, fatique skin and so on.
4. It helps your kidneys; your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequat.
5. It prevents constipation; adequate fluid and fiber is the perfect combination, because the fluid pumps up the fiber and acts like a broom to keep your bowel functioning properly.
6. Optimum functioning of your organs; brain, heart, lungs, muscles, liver and your bones.
7. It detoxifies your body; water ensures transport of nutrients and waste. The so-called ‘toxic’ substances also belong to the waste group. These are foreign substances that naturally do not contribute to good health.      Therefore your body rather loose those toxins than keep them. Think heavy metals, pesticides, nicotine and alcohol. Drinking enough water helps to drain these toxins and thus cleanse your body. A simpler and
cheaper detox plan is not available!
8. Prevents acidification; your body strives for a good balance between acids and ‘bases’ (non-acids).When your body is out of balance, there is a higher chance of creating kidney stones, cancer, inflammation due to
a poor immune system and so on.
